Robot Palletize / De-Palletize
Design for Plastic Dunnage for V8 Aluminum Blocks Stacked 3 High
SMT Job No. S-6019 FMC - Ford Romeo
|
This system integrates the use of a Fanuc 431 WI Robot with custom End of Arm Tooling (referred to as EOAT) supplied by SMT. This EOAT is designed not only to pickup the required parts but also the required dunnage within the EOAT. |

Inbound Chain Drive Power Roll Conveyor using 3-1/2" dia. x .300 wall rollers. 1/2" steel gusseted loading guides to protect equipment from fork truck damage when loading. |
Inbound Conveyor feeding to a pop-up triple strand silent chain transfer conveyor which will transfer a full dunnage 90° to the Robot load / unload station. |

Close-up of the 90° Lift & Transfer Conveyor's main transfer bed utilizing Silent Chain as the conveyor belt. This chain rides within Sure Alloy 550 tracking. This concept is not new to the industry and is well known for its' reliability and durability. |
Side shot of the Cam device located in each corner of the 90° Lift & Transfer using 1-7/16 shaft mount with center hydraulic push, so the Lift is even at all (4) corners. |

Photo at left shows the conveyor deck drive for the 90° Lift & Transfer which travels with the conveyor as it moves up and down. Note its' location for ease of service. |

Angle shot of the outbound Dunnage Conveyor. At this point the Fanuc Robot will either stack or de-stack the dunnage trays. Note, also you see within the photo, SMT's standard drive package using a V base design (hinged on one end with an adjustment screw) in order to avoid any additional take-up devices. |
Above you see a Hydraulic Crowder that locates the base part of the fix position and holds it in order to ensure the repeatability for the robot load / unload. |

This EOAT is designed not only to handle a V8 Aluminum Block, but also the dunnage trays that the blocks are stored and transported in. This EOAT features a self-floating plate with Zitran Gripping devices along with a center device to pass through the dunnage, twist and pickup one tray at a time. |
